Whereas the Society of Ethnobiology is undertaking to publish the article above named, of which the undersigned is corresponding author, the author(s) grant and assign exclusively to the Society of Ethnobiology for its use all rights of whatever kind or nature now and hereafter protected by common or statutory copyright laws of the United States and all foreign countries in all languages and including all subsidiary rights. The exclusive rights mentioned herein shall be the property of the Society of Ethnobiology for the period of the copyright and any renewal thereof.

The Society of Ethnobiology, in turn, grants the author(s): (a) The right of republication in any printed or digital text you write or edit and in any online repository, without obtaining permission or making payment to the Society of Ethnobiology and (b) the right to approve any translation of the material. The author also is required, in accordance with the usual practice of reprint publications, to include the line "reprinted by permission from Ethnobiology Letters, volume (3)."

The author guarantees that he/she is the sole author of the contribution named above, or, if the material is written jointly, that each of the authors has authorized you to act as his or her agent in agreeing to the terms and making representations herein stated; that the material is original and has not heretofore been published (except that it may have been circulated as an informal working paper for limited distribution); that the material contains no matter that is scandalous, obscene, libelous, or otherwise contrary to the law; and that there is no other owner of the rights herein conveyed to the Society of Ethnobiology, and that such rights have not previously been conveyed, assigned, or encumbered in whole or in part to any other person or persons. If the material previously has been published in whole or in part in a copyrighted medium, the author guarantees to submit an assignment of copyright to the Society of Ethnobiology, and the author will submit copy for credit lines with the manuscript.

The author will be given an opportunity to read and correct edited galley proofs, but if the author fails to return such corrections by the date set by the production editor, production and publication may proceed without the author's approval of the edited galleys.

The author agrees to refer to the Society of Ethnobiology any inquiries regarding permission to reprint or use in any manner the material by anyone who is not its author and further agrees to report promptly to the Society of Ethnobiology any unauthorized reproduction.
